A movie cannot get funnier!!

I am watching one of these funny movies as I type this post. Actually it’s not any particular movie. Any English movie dubbed into a particular regional language will surely tickle your funny bone!! I remember watching Jackie Chan’s Rush Hour in Tamil and also Will Smith’s Bad Boys 2. The worst thing is that you will never observe the actual essence of the movie; you will be lost in all the laughing!! At times, the translation gets very literal; sometimes it gets too vernacular, in the sense the dialogue is full of slangs. Yes, this is the only way that you can see ‘snowbell’ in Stuart Little sing in Tamil!!

The Post-Conventional stage…

One of the interesting things I ever learned from my college books is the three stages of human development- the pre-conventional, the conventional and the post-conventional stage. Pre-conventional stage is when we follow whatever is said to us as an order for the sheer joy of enjoying the reward or under the fear of punishment. The conventional stage is when we follow whatever is said to us without analyzing them. In the sense, we know that doing or not doing this won’t fetch us a literal reward or punishment. But we just don’t analyze why things are the way they are; in our custom, our society. The post-conventional stage is when we analyze things; when we get enough scope of thought to widen our minds.

Experience!!

All through the journey of life we come across a number of experiences. It is always said that ‘experience is the best teacher’. Of course it is!! There can be no better way to understand one’s life or thoughts other than experiencing them. But think again. So are we determined to learn only from the best teacher?! Do we have so much time to live so that we can learn every other aspect of life only by experiencing it?? Obviously, this shouldn’t be the way. Just like you learn from the books and apply it in your work, life requires some learning and some careful application of thoughts and ideas.

Overhead bridges…

Travelling by bus, train or any means of transport, going over the bridges is something always exciting. Earlier when I used to go by train, I used to wait for the bridges. The sound of the train when it moves over the bridge is very different. Looking from above the bridge is another great experience. Recently, the number of bridges in Chennai is in a constant increase. You get to see the towers, temples, tall buildings and almost a good part of the city. Of course, to enjoy all this, you need to find a place next to the window!! Standing on the footboard is always fun but not always safe!!
