A Day to Forget For Chennai!!

It was certainly not one of those days for Chennai. They played the Bangalore Royal Challengers in their semifinal encounter and were thoroughly outplayed by them in every department of the game. Put to bat first, Chennai got to a flying start with Patel and Hayden showering the stadium with fours and sixes. The rest of the order however did not capitalize on the start and Chennai scuttled out for a mere 145. The Bangalore chase began well but 2 quick wickets kept the contest alive. However Dravid and Manish played a sensible innings to lead the recovery. Finally, Ross Taylor sealed the win for Bangalore! The semifinal hopes for Chennai came down crashing! Hope to see a better performance from them in IPL 2010!

Chennai into semifinals!

I was on cloud nine when Chennai beat Punjab in their last league encounter and thus ensuring a semifinal berth. CSK looked as if it would easily run away with the trophy. Everyone was in ominous form with Hayden leading the charge. Chennai elected to bat first as batting had always been Chennai’s strength. But everyone was shocked when a total batting failure left the teams semifinal chances in shackles! The team could post only a mere 115 runs. Punjab supporters were jumping in joy. But the twist came when the Punjab batting commenced. Chennai super kings bowlers were extraordinary that day with Murali taking the mantle, claiming 2 crucial wickets while giving away only 8 runs! The batsmen fell like ten pins in front of the strong spin attack. The result was that Punjab lost and that too by a huge margin of 24 runs. So Chennai is through to the semifinals! Lets hope we bag the cup this year!
